I woke up this morning
and I felt better,
been laid up for three days

I walked down to the kitchen
I was working on my coffee
when I see a fella shimmying my gate

So I walked out the back door
and I approached him
without him seeing me
and I said

Hey there, can’t you read
the no Trespassing sign
He said Naw,
they don’t teach you reading in schools
these days

He turned around quickly
with a gun in his hand
and I shot him twice
in the chest

I got my old truck
and covered the back
I loaded his body
and I drove 100 miles

I pulled my truck over
and took out my knife
I dug my two bullets
and tossed his body out

I knelt down
and I prayed
over his soul
I hope god forgives me

an old man
can’t be too careful
these days
